Individual Support

Our theatre company was built on several core goals and values which strove at its heart to not only bring theatre to the local community, but to bring the community into the theatre. We wanted fully accessibility to everyone regardless of economic background, ability or experience and this stands true to this day.

We have welcomed into our theatre family many who have never acted or performed before and given confidence to many helpers and backstage crew who had always wanted to find somewhere they could make a difference. We have several 'performers with differences' such as autism, ADHD and cerebral palsy, all of whom have stayed with the company, gained confidence in themselves and helped others in turn.

At C&D we have an open door policy, not only to our audition process which allows for no favouritism and casts people on ability, but also in allowing others to join the theatre group. We are always looking for people to support us either by giving up their time or financially to help towards our running costs. By sponsoring a production or assisting in some other way, you help contribute towards our significant community work in Kettering and other parts of Northamptonshire.

Community 25, our free ticket scheme for local charities and community groups in need, is made further possible by supportive and generous individuals and patrons of the company. This is just one example of how your help can make a difference, and regardless of how you lend a hand we can assure you that every little bit helps.

Community Projects

A lot can be said about the sense of belonging that can only be made by like-minded, mutually generous people who are happy to donate their time, energy and dreams into making something amazing happen on stage. When we can combine this love of theatre with helping charities and community groups in Northants support their users or clients then it makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Become a Supporting Member

Our membership and supporting packages are there for those wanting to take their participation with C&D or Onyx to the next level and also for those non-performers who want to help and support our theatre company. All the bundles feature great benefits to the user and will ensure both value for money and fantastic exclusive content too!

Membership is not a requirement to perform and take part in our classes as we believe in giving people choice, though it is a great way to help us continue our year-long schedule of great productions, fringe theatre and community work.

Get Involved: Backstage

For any theatrical production to be staged successfully there needs to be a hardworking and efficient team behind it. First a director is assigned to overview the creative aspects of the play and from there a team is formed to work on the ‘non stage’ elements whilst the cast rehearse.

A great deal of work takes place to ensure the cast have a stage and setting to effectively interpret the play, from sourcing/making costumes and locating props to taking as a prompt during rehearsals and helping with refreshments.

What People Are Saying...

C&D is so wonderful because it works for and within our community; it's inclusivity allows theatre to reach people from all works of life, something that is so important in the modern day.

I first came to C&D Productions as photographer for their performance of Dorian Gray in February 2015 and have been back for every production since then! It has been great for me in terms of my work but has more recently also given me a platform to branch out a little into other creative processes behind the scenes of theatre, which is fantastic.
Theresa Haworth, 29
I'd given up on the prospect of ever getting back on a stage after having not done anything performing arts related in more than 20 years, but I was attracted to C&D Productions as they staged quality classic plays that I preferred to act in as a drama student. I was really nervous as I was so out of practice but soon felt right at home. I am now one of a mixed bunch of members comprising all ages and abilities and I take great pride in being part of an all-inclusive company.
Roxanne, 42.
C&D has completely changed my life for the better because the company put on brilliant productions and i have worked with the best actors and directors as well. This company is going from strength to strength and i can only see improvements!
Owen, 20.
C&D have really given me a lot of self-confidence and that is down to the team in placing running it and the fantastic casts I've been part of.
Justin, 32.
It has been lovely to see the amount of different people getting involved with the theatre company over the last few months, both on stage and backstage. Everyone, cast and crew, pulls together to get a production up and running, and the team is like one big family that everyone feels a part of - no one is left out.
Theresa Haworth, 29
C&D Productions are an incredibly friendly group of people, I feel I have found a second family. I have enjoyed working with them more than any other social activities and always look forward to the next show!
